Desert Highway

Page history last edited by Richard Phillips 12 years, 11 months ago

This is a project that started badly, first attempts didn't work (it was like an episode of Star Trek the amount of warping that was going on). But after my initial problems I am really happy with the results. The sections are made from vinyl floor tiles, a pack of four for a pound from a well known shop I just can't remember the name at the moment, "Shillingrealm" I think! The wider highway is 75mm wide with smaller roads 50mm. At first I was going to use the adhesive side and texture it but then I noticed the texture on the patterned side was very similar to a road surface so I decided to use that side. Masking tape was used to mask the areas for the road markings, after some research I decided on something similar to the Jordan Highway with a yellow solid line down the edges and a white dashed line down the centre. The 75mm width allowed me to texture the edges of the road to match the bases on my miniatures and the same on the 50mm width. Inspired by Kierans' work on his 6mm Wargaming site I will be adding roadworks along with some road signs, laybys etc.

Just a practice setup to see what they would look like with some other terrain I am working on.
